“Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter wasn’t kidding when he said FX’s parent company is as “aggressive as I am” in defending lawsuits. The Fox-owned network is wasting no time responding to the $5 million idea theft lawsuit filed this week that alleges the show was stolen from a pitch by the former head of the NYC Hells Angels.

We’ve learned FX has hired well-known Hollywood litigator Scott Edelman of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher to defend the suit filed by Chuck Zito, who claims “Sons” was his idea. 

Edelman is a big gun in high-stakes entertainment litigation. He’s currently involved in another high-profile TV spat, representing Warner Bros. in the massive profit-sharing lawsuit filed in March by the creators of “Smallville.” Given Zito’s background and Sutter’s anger, this should be an epic fight.
