Early Season 3 Spoilers
Filed in News • January 28th, 2010 • Add Comments?

OK, it’s been a few months since the end of season 2. We had the holidays to distract us from our separation anxiety. And a lot of us have season 1 on dvd, which gets us through the empty voids of bikes, sex & violence. But the majority of us like to look to the future and so we wait like hungry dogs for any scrap of meaty info about the upcoming season of Sons of Anarchy.

So what do we already know? We know that season three will be back in September and that Kurt Sutter is already back in the writing room. And that he has offered “Coco” a guest spot on the show, which would be surreal but awesome!

I’ve casually scraped my news reader and perused the usual spoilerish sites that would have some juicy morsels to share. I’m not claiming that I am the end all, be all source of SoA news, but here’s a lil sumpthin’ sumpthin’:

From EpisodeInfo:

In an interview conducted with NJ.com, [Kurt] Sutter said that in the 3rd season he wants “to take them into a world that is outside their own, where they don’t have any control, where they are subject to other people’s laws and beliefs and parameters, where they aren’t quite the big fish in the small pond.”

Sons of Anarchy Season 3 Character Spoilers (Buddy TV):

Chief Unser: According to TV Guide, Unser will step down from his post next season, consequently leaving Hale as Deputy Chief. Series creator Kurt Sutter hints that Hale will be put on a tight spot on Sons of Anarchy season 3 and is forced to make tough decisions just as Unser did in the past.

“Unser came to understand… that you have to create relationships with these gangs and turn the other way sometimes and set parameters,” Sutter explained. “You can’t go by the letter of the law or you’re f—-d. Hale [will] have to learn those lessons and how much he’s willing to bend.”

Jax: Losing baby Abel will definitely affect Jax and his relationship with Tara on Sons of Anarchy Season 3. Series creator Kurt Sutter says he wants to “explore what happens to a couple when they’re faced with a tragedy like that….To be honest with you, I don’t know where it’s going to go. Does Tara blame herself? Does Tara blame Jax? Does Jax blame Tara? But that will be a very real dynamic in their relationship.”

From E! Online:
Kurt Sutter just headed back into the writers’ room and would only tell us this of season three: “I have a baby to find, and that’s all I know.” As for Gemma’s future as an outlaw, Katey Sagal doesn’t seem too worried. “I don’t think it will alter the family bond, but there are so many things that have to be addressed,” she explains. “Gemma obviously doesn’t know what’s happened to her grandson, and she’ll probably go insane when she finds out. I wouldn’t put anything past her. I’m sure she’ll take care of business.”

SOA – Gets Season Three

“The success of Sons of Anarchy is very gratifying and the show has become a bona-fide hit,” said FX President and General Manager John Landgraf. “The critics have recognized Sons as one the best series on television, and the show has earned its place alongside FX’s great drama series The Shield, Nip/Tuck, Rescue Me and Damages. Creatively, this season was spectacular and all credit goes to Kurt [Sutter] and the incredible cast led by Katey Sagal, Charlie Hunnam and Ron Perlman.”

A full 13-episode season is in the order and creator/executive producer Kurt Sutter reached a deal on a two-year extension to continue his services as showrunner/writer. Additionally, all the cast are in place to return with the premiere slated for September 2010.

In an interview with NJ.com, Sutter said that in the next season he wants “to take them into a world that is outside their own, where they don’t have control, where they are subject to other people’s laws and beliefs and perameters. Where they aren’t quite the big fish in the small pond.”

Sons of Anarchy Season 3: Forward Flash Expectations
Filed in News • January 24th, 2010 • Add Comments? (2)

This fall Sons of Anarchy returns for Season 3, and fans of SAMCRO will be wondering how series creator Kurt Sutter plans to bring all of the plot lines together after the audacious Season 2 finale. Season 1 ended with a rift in the SAMCRO family after Donna’s accidental death; the result was the civil war between Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman) and Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) in Season 2. The second season of Sons of Anarchy expanded on several character arcs that culminated in a fractured SAMCRO. The motorcycle club’s queen, Gemma (Katey Sagal), is on the run. Jax’s baby has been kidnapped by the Irish. Also, Ethan Zobelle (Adam Arkin) escaped SAMCRO vindication. In Sons of Anarchy Season 3, the series’ writers will have their work cut out for them to top their ambitious second season.

Here’s what fans will be looking forward to:

No More Half Sack
halfsackHalf-Sack Epps (Johnny Lewis) died a Prospect, trying in vain to save Tara (Maggie Siff) and Jax’s son Able from Cameron Hayes (Jamie McShane). Fans were hoping that Half-Sack may still be alive, but unfortunately, it looks like Lewis requested to be written off the show. Even though he was only a Prospect, Half-Sack will forever live on as a SAMCRO legend.

Flash Forward
Chances are season 3 will begin sometime after the events of the Season 2 finale. This time dash will give the writers a chance to take SAMCRO in a much darker direction. Throughout Seasons 1 and 2, we’ve always pictured Jax taking SAMCRO towards a brighter “legit” future. However, losing his son will most likely take Jax away from his father’s allegiance and leave him embracing Morrow-doctrine. Also, this gives the writers a chance to work with a non-baby centered script. It will be easier to script around a four-year old child, than a baby.

Mayan Revenge
Alvarez took several loses trying to protect Ethan Zobelle. We will most likely see some retaliation in the future.

Say Goodbye to Charming?
In one of the the finals scenes of the season 2 finale, we see Gemma and Chief Wayne Unser (Dayton Callie) on the run from the ATF. As they flee Charming, they drive by a sign that says, “Thank you for visiting Charming.” Unser then asks an open-ended question to Gemma, “Any idea where we’re headed?” With Jax’s baby kidnapped and Gemma on the run, chances are we may see some new locations in Season 3. Hopefully, the writers will be able to maintain the show’s intensity across multiple state lines.

Did Gemma Jump the Shark?
Gemma’s last words to her husband, Clay, were, “Come home to me.” Then Gemma killed Zobelle’s daughter, got framed by ATF Agent Stahl (Ally Walker) for multiple murders, and was forced to flee Charming. Many fans said that Sons of Anarchy jumped the shark when Gemma killed Zobelle’s daughter. The murder was a stark opposite to Gemma’s meticulous nature. Now we’ll be left to wonder how SAMCRO will function without their queen. Gemma has always been the focal point of the show’s drama. Now that she’s on the run, maybe Gemma will lead the charge to rescue Able?

The Future of Otto
Otto may not have played a major role in day-to-day SAMCRO dealings, but fans couldn’t help but fall in love with this character after he bashed Stahl’s head into a table. Sadly, Otto is left without his vision and his wife. His usefulness to SAMCRO seems a distant memory.

Team Jax
In the season 2 finale, Filip “Chibs” Telford (Tommy Flanagan) and Harry “Opie” Winston (Ryan Hurst) are seen teaming up with Jax. Each time Jax makes a move to ride, Opie quickly states that he will ride with Jax and Chibs immediately seconds the call. In Season 3, we’ll see more of Team Jax. The only question is, will Team Jax be local to Charming or will they be in pursuit of Able? If they leave Charming, will they be forced to go Nomad?

A New Chief in Town
Unser is officially out as chief. Deputy Chief David Hale (Taylor Sheridan) will be stepping up as head lawman in Charming. But, will we even be in Charming to notice?

The Hunt for Zobelle
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Sons of Anarchy will at least make it to Season 5. If that’s the case, then Zobelle will probably return in Season 4 or later for Clay to finally get the chance to exact his revenge. Since Zobelle will most likely never return to Charming, this will reinforce the possibility that SAMCRO will step outside of Charming come season 3. His final words in the finale were, “We adjust and adapt.” This line is another foreshadowing of what’s to come, and further potential for an overall farewell to Charming.

Agent Stahl
Retribution must be had. Agent Stahl shot Edmond Hayes. She’s one of the best villains on Sons of Anarchy so we’ll most likely see more of her in the coming season. We’re all hoping that Gemma will find a way to get retribution and return to Clay, but as long as Agent Stahl is on the loose, there will be no safe place in or around Charming for Gemma.

Jax and Tara
Before the Season 2 finale, we saw wedding bells in Jax and Tara’s future. Without his son, can Jax truly find the peace he needs to commit to Tara? And, is Tara willing to bear the harsh burden of supporting Jax in this time. Tara was on the outs with the hospital, maybe we’ll see her say goodbye to the medical profession all together to rise up and become the new queen of SAMCRO. It’s hard to imagine anyone taking the place of Gemma, but Tara is no doubt up for the job. If Jax decides to lead Opie and Chibs on a rescue mission, Tara may come along for the ride as they eventually cross paths with Gemma.

Regardless of where Kurt Sutter takes Sons of Anarchy in Season 3, we’ll be there anxiously awaiting the future of this brilliantly scripted and performed series.
