Join Actor Mitch Pileggi for Simi Valley Fundraiser

Join actor Mitch Pileggi (The X-Files, Supernatural, Sons of Anarchy) on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at PC’s Bar & Grill for a gathering of family, friends and supporters for a fundraiser to benefit Judi Ward in her battle against Leiomyosarcoma.

PC’s Bar & Grill in Simi Valley plays host to a gathering of family, friends and supporters to benefit Judi Ward in her battle against Leiomyosarcoma (“LMS”). Judi has been diagnosed with this very rare form of cancer – LMS affects 4 out of a million people. Last year, she was laid off from her job and no longer has health insurance. Event organizers hope the afternoon’s celebrations will help defray the costs of treating this aggressive disease.

While the cause is serious, the event will be a fun, relaxed affair complete with prizes, gifts and a raffle of memorabilia from Mitch Pileggi’s (The X-Files, Supernatural, Sons of Anarchy) television work. Come on down and meet Mitch, have some fun, raise awareness of this disease and help support this fabulous woman.

Can’t attend the event but still want to help? Judi’s family has set up a donation website just for this purpose: http://judiwardlmsfundraiser.yolasite.com/

Event Details:

Date: 10/3/2009
Time: 2:00pm
Where: PC’s Bar & Grill, 4250 Los Angeles Ave., Simi Valley, CA 93063

Sons of Anarchy Staying Strong!!

Sons of Anarchy staying strong for FX with 3.76 million on September 29

Tuesday night Sons of Anarchy averaged  3.76 million viewers and a  1.9/5 A18-49 at 10pm Tuesday, almost edging out the broadcast competition on ABC (The Forgotten – 2.0/5 with adults 18-49).    That’s up in viewers from last week’s 3.49 million, and flat with adults 18-49.

So far, the show is outperforming, and by a fairly wide margin,  the 2009 performance of FX’s  Damages and Rescue Me.

One thing we hear a lot about with some of the other cable networks is the # of additional viewers during encore broadcasts.  Last week (9/22) in addition to the 3.49 million at 10pm, another 1.53 million watched the 11:02 encore, and another 975,000 watched a Sunday night at 11pm airing.  A Friday at 11pm airing averaged 841,000  and Tuesday 1am airing another 739,000.   By the HBO math, that’s almost 7.6 million for the week, so FX is getting pretty good mileage out of the show.

On Set of Sons of Anarchy

Second Season, Let the Mayhem Begin

signoutfront Lathrop, CA~August 28, 2009 – In case there is anyone left out there in TV land who hasn’t heard of the Sons of Anarchy, the wildly popular night-time biker soap that airs on the FX channel, let me bring you up to speed. This series has caused quite a stir in the riding community. Supposedly based in California’s central valley (modeled on the real town of Lodi some speculate), our imaginary gunrunning bike club operates from the fictitious town of Charming, which is anything but…

CharlieHunnam

Carved table From crooked cops that are controlled by the SOA club, to rival clubs, street gangs, and a psychotic menopausal matriarch of the club who runs rough shod over the entire town, the show is packed with drama and more than a few disturbing scenes. Think the Sopranos on bikes and you’ve got a damn close notion of what the show is about.

Tommy Tommy Flanagan, who plays Chibs. According to the Internet Movie Database, however, the plot of the show is, “A man in his 30s struggles to find balance in his life between being a new dad and his involvement in a motorcycle gang.” The wording itself in this blurb is a glaring example of how little the outside world knows the biker world. There is no such thing as a motorcycle “gang.” There are motorcycle clubs of various stripes and flavors, but no gangs. Period.

Some 5.2 million viewers caught each episode of the first season thereby garnering more than a few devotees, much to the surprise of the show’s execs, who weren’t expecting the series to even be noticed. Season one, now on sale in stores like Target and Wal-Mart on DVD and Blu-Ray, reportedly sold out in Lodi, Stockton, and other surrounding valley towns in less than 2 hours after it was recently released.

flanniganriding Rumors and insider showbiz leaks over the summer pointed to a new season geared up to freak out even the most hardcore fans. So, for many, the SOA season two premier on Tuesday, September 8, had been anxiously anticipated. And fans weren’t disappointed. With introduction of a new nemesis for the club and the brutalization of a key female character, the sophomore season’s first episode absolutely blew the proverbial riding boots right off our collective crowd. And we’re damn sure there’s more where that came from, as the next 10 new episodes spin out.
